Weekly poll: do you use 5G on your phone?

779137

Huawei Fan Man, 16 hours agowhat speeds do you get?I do not know.

M1077245

I wouldn’t mind 5G, a lower ping is always welcome. The current speed on the 4G network here is around 150Mbps, which is more than enough for now, but the latency of 29ms could be much improved.

Only one problem. Where are the big, bezel-less, flat-panel 5G phones (can’t believe this description needs to be revived) without notches or punch-holes?

I can only think of one, the ZTE Axon 30 5G, which is not available here…

Huawei Fan Man, 34 minutes agoI don’t believe you have 300Mbps on 4G.. prove it by sending the Ookla speed results link I live in an apartment above the mall.
If I go to the mall around 9 am I could easily get 100Mbps-150Mbps 4G
But the weekend around 12-19. 5mbps-15mbps is the norm.

If there is a big holiday or a big event held in the mall. Sometimes I could only message on Whatsapp, but I couldn’t watch YouTube.

Anonymous, 1 hour agoI have 5G on my phone, but it hardly seems any faster than 4G in general during the day… moreYou said the same in the past for 4G and now you’re using it… 🙂
It’s all about the money.. nothing else..
In about a year you will have it in the future because it will be without additional costs

Solun1, 14 hours agoDude, you don’t understand. 4G-enabled devices can reach download speeds of around 2000 Mbps. You…MoreOf course there is content… I now play multiplayer games on my computer which requires a high speed internet connection. 60 -80 f- 100 fluctuating.. I can play Warzone with no problem but occasionally I will lose connection.. With 5G which my OP has launched now from this year, wireless multiplayer gaming will be without disconnects..
So yeah, I’m happy with 5G as I’m only paying £16/month 😉

CptPower, 4 hours agoJesus man, you put all my hard work in a beautiful package that already had a rotten present… moreNeboj jezisko I lived in sk 😀
I already had 4G in the UK in 2014 2015.. And nothing came sk until a few years later
forka was the first to offer 4G and I’ve always cursed that I was tastefully switched to the 4G 3G signal while traveling north; D
in 2017 2018 there was still nothing in Orava .. and there was already nothing in upper Orava in Námestovo
It mainly depends on the mayor of each city. So expect 5G everywhere in SK in 5 years, as it was with 4G.
here in the uk there is 5g from 2019 to 2020 i skipped it because the offers were stupid
but now my new year smarty op started to support 5g without price increase
I pay Sim only £16 all unlimited I’ve had a contract for a year now and now I have a contract again for another year £16 with 5G. I just had to buy a 5G Tried the Huawei P40 and got a 700-800 download and a 50 up. so roughly
as far as rents go don’t worry everywhere it’s expensive here in the uk prices have also gone up and a 3 bedroom semi-detached house is £700 £800
I have a 3 bedroom house for £425 as I have been in business for many years
It’s already better to buy a house mortgage and pay off £400 £500 a month.
so don’t worry about 5G on sk sooner or later 😉

Solun1, 14 hours agoDude, you don’t understand. 4G-enabled devices can reach download speeds of around 2000 Mbps. You…Moreomg how can you be so naive??
You will never reach your requested speeds.. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️
no one can even handle it
what you are talking about are values on paper, NOT actual speeds. all this traffic is spread over 1000 users per mast.. come on little boy get real
it’s the same with the computer industry that you have
for example, the NVMe SSD is designed for a PCIe 3.0 interface and fits into an x4 lane, providing up to 7.9 Gb/s transfer rate and up to 3.9 GB/s throughput
but you will never reach these speeds..
i think you need to do more research and more learning
what is advertised on “paper” or labeled as “UP TO” and then measure the end user’s actual actual speed.
with the 4G mobile network, you will never have more than 300 Mbps in the real world again. and I only had one user who claimed 200 Mbps max on 4G
The maximum 5G speed is 10 Gbps. The theoretical maximum download speed is 700 to 1000 Mbps.
What you’re talking about are theoretical speeds never achievable.
Learn the facts boy 😉

I have 5G on my phone, but it hardly seems any faster than 4G in general day-to-day use.

Unless you have an unlimited data plan, you’re not going to be downloading huge files on a regular basis, so for occasional browsing, videos, and the occasional app update, it’s all just dumb. marketing for us to get unlimited mobile broadband plans.

I get 300 Mbits in 4G or I pay 50% more to get 500-1000 Mbits in 5G. Yes, I don’t need 5G at the moment. 5G and 5G phone available.

476632

Well, there should have been another option on the poll.

I have a 5G phone, 5G is available in my country, but not where I live.

4819

off, battery life is more important to me

J13

No because it uses a lot more battery and only works in the middle of the big cities in our country (Sweden)
Also, since 4G/4G+ can easily reach 300 Mbit, 5G is only really necessary when you need lower ping for certain things and more than 1 Gbit.

Countries that have 5G where 300Mbit is the new standard are cheated because of this speed, you should be reaching 4G+/LTE-A which is not 5G or 5Ge

Vegetarian, 5 hours agoMDR. Asia is a big region. But most countries don’t have 5G. So you’re just talking… moreWithout the vast manufacturing capabilities that exist in Asia, your so-called cheap 5G phone would easily cost three times as much. Pretty easy to guess who would be the one crying then paying for a 5G phone. So don’t talk about Asia and Asians. And yes, they can afford 5G phones, since everything is done here, you clown

No need for crappy 5G, just an excuse to sell more overpriced phones that nobody needs.

But it was fun reading you.
Be glad you don’t live here. 90% of people live on 600 to 800 euros per month of which 70% go to bills. Only rent in Bratislava starts from 250+ for a 3 room apartment if that is in your pessesion.
Otherwise househsare is 250 one bedroom in this apartment. But trying to imagine paying 200,000 euros on a salary of 600 to 800 euros is like Eintstein’s theory of relativity and in this case it is impossible.

K409175

I really don’t see any point in using 5G right now, even 4G in most countries isn’t being used at full speed. Now 5G is just marketing and consuming battery. Maybe in 2-3 years it will be mature enough to use daily, but for now I’ll pass. Unfortunately, many people fall victim to all of these marketing campaigns.

poor-dobby-0, 5 hours agoNo point buying a 5G phone unless there is no other option. In the UK, our networks and internet service… moreThis means that the network already has full capacity.
The bottleneck does not necessarily come from older (less efficient) use of 4G bandwidth (compared to 5G).

yalim, 7 hours agothe most data consumption you can do with a smartphone is video streaming. even a [email protected] HDR st… more5G can serve a greater density of people.
In the area where 4G only has 1Mbps or 2Mbps or even less, 5G is definitely needed. Thus, dense areas such as metropolises surely need 5G more than rural areas.
