At their 26th annual Partner Summit, Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) today announced new technologies designed to empower customers and partners to manage the complexity of a hybrid workforce.
As organizations around the world embrace more flexible ways of working – with employees in the office, on the go, and at home – they face increasing challenges in ensuring all employees have secure and reliable access to the applications they want. need to be productive. With more and more people accessing applications outside of the office, and many of those applications now residing in different clouds, the networks connecting all of these things have grown beyond the corporate perimeter. Today, Cisco is announcing new technology solutions designed to empower customers to effectively manage this complexity and support their hybrid workforce.
As the home has become the new micro branch, this also increases the need for a new approach to security. Through new hybrid work innovations, Cisco will help customers understand where, when, how, and why issues affecting users occur and will continue to provide zero trust solutions making it easy to ensure secure access to any application, on any network, anywhere users work.
“Cisco has long been a leader in networking, security and collaboration, which gives us a unique opportunity to address the challenges and concerns of an end-to-end hybrid workforce,” said declared Todd Nightingale, EVP and GM, Cisco Enterprise Networking & Cloud. “Visibility into applications and networks beyond IT’s control has become a critical success factor for IT teams as they support a hybrid workforce across a variety of new digital experiences. “
ThousandEyes Expands Unprecedented Internet Vision
Today, ThousandEyes announces the addition of Application failures to his Internet Insights Platform, giving IT operations an instant overview of SaaS applications on a global scale. Without any deployment requirements, IT teams will now have a real-time, historical view of the availability of the SaaS applications that employees rely on. Customers can quickly correlate user-specific issues with broader application issues to proactively alert their staff that an application is unavailable, while escalating the issue to the SaaS provider, often even before that the SaaS provider does not publicly acknowledge the problem.
Fueled by the collective intelligence of ThousandEyes, based on billions of measurements underway across thousands of global viewpoints, adding application outages to Internet Insights network outages will allow customers to have a holistic view of all networks, services, and now SaaS applications, which impact the digital experience.
The internet affects all employees and consumers. To give users a real insight into the real disruption impacting the services they rely on, ThousandEyes also provides the first live view of critical SaaS applications and internet outages based on real performance data. Unlike sites that rely solely on user-reported issues, which can be misleading and inaccurate, the Cisco ThousandEyes Internet Outage Map is powered by billions of daily measurements across thousands of global viewpoints to put the power of real-world data into the hands of every user and employee.
Extend visibility to the most important applications and environments
In addition to the public internet, visibility into collaborative applications and cloud environments has become essential to provide users with exceptional digital experiences. Collaboration apps have become the lifeline for many remote workers, so making sure they’re always working is a top priority for the business. Indeed, between May 2020 and August 2021, collaboration apps have become the most watched type of app by IT teams, indicating that providing a collaborative experience is viewed as critical by companies in hybrid work. Additionally, managing users, branch offices, clouds, and the Internet requires a simpler and more intuitive approach to SD-WAN.
To address these challenges, Cisco recently announced new innovations to enable an even better hybrid work experience. These innovations include:
- Cisco SD-WAN recently announced new improvements for increased access and visibility across more clouds, with visibility to deliver superior experiences. With these innovations, Cisco offers better interconnection with Cloud and SDCI partners, improved support for the multi-tenant architecture and a better user interface for more intuitive management. This includes the availability of new integrations with Equinix, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
- Recently at WebexOne, Cisco announced greater visibility into Cisco Webex performance through ThousandEyes and Cisco Meraki. Now, Meraki Insight automates root cause analysis and specific remediation steps across a SaaS provider’s local network, WAN, or cloud. Available 1st December, IT can also benefit new Webex ThousandEyes agents for two-way visibility between user locations and Webex services.
